 Grants are available to senior Vet and Vet Tech students who meet the criteria for ‘seeing practice’ at either VETPlus Taupo, Reporoa or Rotorua.

Grants may be considered for Research Projects that have a benefit to the Central Plateau, but may also include New Zealand as a whole.

Veterinary Students with a genuine interest in working as a veterinarian in production animal or mixed animal veterinary practice in rural New Zealand are invited to apply for the following grants offered by the Central Plateau Vet Society

DESCRIPTION

  1. Fourth year Grant

Up to four grants of $1000 are offered to current (2014) fourth year veterinary students @ Massey University.

  1. Travel /Accommodation Assistance

An additional allowance to assist with travel and or accommodation may be made available where appropriate.

This will be at the discretion of VETPlus Representatives

Qualifying Participation

Successful applicants will “See Practice” with VETPlus Ltd. for a minimum of 2 weeks in the current university year.

Practice Description

VETPlus is an exciting company which currently employs 14 production animal vets and 7 full time equivalent companion animal veterinarians operating from three centres in Taupo, Reporoa and Rotorua.

Our production animal business covers a wide range of interests including;

¨      Substantial dairy practice, and associated advisory services,

¨      Deer medicine and embryo transfer,

¨      Sheep & beef medicine

¨      Equine Medicine

¨      Alpaca medicine

Our consulting business includes;

¨      Intelact dairy consultancy (nutritional and budgetary advice)

Our Companion Animal business comprises two well equipped clinics in Taupo & Rotorua

During your visit we will endeavour to cover many of the clinical procedures that you will be faced within your first years as a qualified veterinarian. Our friendly and experienced team will offer helpful tips for getting you up and operational.

Applications shall include the student’s C.V. and contact details, two character references and a brief outline of why the applicant feels he/she should be considered.

Applications Close Monday 16h June 2014

Where potential applications of significant merit are received, selected VETPlus representatives may meet with and interview such applicants.

Successful applicants to be notified prior to the planned visits to VETPlus.

Please Note

While these grants are offered to rural or mixed practice veterinary students, we also welcome voluntary visits from students wishing to see Companion Animal practice.
